The SAGD start-up process normally circulates steam in both the injector and producer, which consumes a large amount of steam, requires high cost high-temperature-produced liquid treatment, unavoidably results preferential communication heterogeneous reservoirs. In order to achieve uniform preheat full chamber development wellpairs, downhole electrical heating start up was proposed investigated this study using physical numerical simulation approaches. Two 3-D scaled experiments were designed implemented investigate feasibility characteristics such method. Numerical conducted an sector model with typical field properties design preheating process, optimize key operational parameters, formulate soak strategy determine conversion timing. experimental indicate that outperforms circulation achieving thermal reservoirs, is challenged conventional process. parameters formulated optimized, include wellbore pre-flush, saturation by heat conduction fluid, heating, replacement fluid periodically.
